Reading Round-up: May 2017 #MiniBookReviews

Welcome to my new post where I discuss any books that I read in the month which for one reason or another didn’t get the full review treatment. This is a way for me to keep track of what I’ve read but without the pressure of having to write comprehensive reviews for them all.

There were only two books I read this month that I didn’t end up reviewing in full…

The Knife of Never Letting Go ~ Patrick Ness

I loved this book the first time I read it and have wanted to reread it ever since but never seem to find the time to reread anything. I was therefore overjoyed when I got the audio book in my goodie bag at his new book launch. I enjoyed listening to it, but the narrator did annoy me a bit. He did a good job don’t get me wrong, but his voice was a bit irritating! This was my first ever audio book too, so it took a bit of getting used to. I haven’t been put off them, but I think I’ll stick to the books on this particular occasion.

The Time Machine ~ H.G Wells

This was one of those books that I thought I’d read when I was younger but it turns out I hadn’t. I liked it a lot, especially seeing how much it has influenced science-fiction over the years and paved the way for sub-genres like Steampunk and Time-Travel novels. A true classic!

Well, that’s a wrap on May, folks! How did you get on?

Currently Reading: The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness – Still early days with this but I am loving it. A lot of people warned me about the stream-of-consciousness style, but I really love it. I find it pretty easy to read.

Recently Finished: Game, Set and Murder by Elizabeth Flynn – A murder mystery set at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. I loved it. My review is here.

Up Next: A Breath of Frost by Alyxander Harvey – I just posted this in my Top Ten most anticipated books of 2014 and was lucky enough to get approved for an advanced copy so looking forward to it! Yay.

Currently Reading: Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) by Sarah J. Maas. Insert fangirling excitement here. Also if I can tear myself away I’ll also start Game, Set and Murder by Elizabeth Flynn.

Recently Finished: I finished Orbital Kin by James E. Parsons which was one of those books that is great one minute and then awful the next. Read my review here. I also just finished City of Glass. The 3rd Mortal Instruments book by Cassandra Clare. Review to follow.

Up Next: Either The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. Or A Breath of Frost by Alyxandra Harvey. Or The Mortal Instruments #4.

Plus, It’s almost time for some Festive Reads! Yesssssssssss!

Currently Reading: I’m reading Orbital Kin by James E. Parsons. It started off a bit slow but I’m hoping it’ll pick up soon.

Recently Finished: City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2) by Cassandra Clare. Mini review to follow (busy, busy, busy). I also read How to Make Money Blogging by Bob Lotich. My aim isn’t to make any money from this, even if I thought I could, but I read that this book had some good general blogging tips, and how to increase traffic and so on. I wasn’t that impressed, but there are a few things I’ll take from it.

Up Next: I am definitely enjoying The Mortal Instruments more the second time round and so I want to start the 3rd book (which I never got to last time). But I also reeeeeeallllly need to read Crown of Midnight which I’ll be getting off my friend Di on Sunday. I’ve got The Knife of Never Letting Go on the top of my pile too. Ahhh. Not enough time!
