Discussion: Where’s the support? #Blogging

Guys, I’m so angry with WordPress that I’m thinking of jumping ship. I couldn’t post all last week and I wasted the whole weekend trying to fix it. I sought help from WordPress Support and on Twitter and they were so useless and uninterested that it really riled me up. Fellow bloggers were a lot more help than they were.

I know it’s a free platform, but you’d think they’d have some support in place, that y’know, actually supported its users. What if this was a blog that’s an actual business!? I certainly wouldn’t be making a living right now if that was the case. RAGE.

I don’t want to stop blogging but when you loose confidence in the platform you use, it makes you just want to pack it in. And choosing a new platform, when I’m so familiar with this one just seems like a chore.

I’m still not sure what to do – for now it seems to be working again, but for how long!?

Has anyone else had issues like this? What did you do?

We Need to Talk About…how to choose a new blog layout! #discussion

icon-discussion

We Need to Talk About…is my new discussion post where I ask the blogosphere (that’s you guys) for opinions/advice/rants on anything from ‘how do some bloggers read so many books?’ to ‘how do you rate books?’.

Lately I’ve been thinking about changing my blog layout…

But there are so many to choose from. How do I decide? I’ve only changed my layout once in three years and it feels like a big deal to change it so please excuse my neurosis!

I want a simple layout, but one with a wider body of text and less space on the sidebars and stuff. Any suggestions?

Also, if I change it (I don’t have WP premium btw) is it easy to change back if it doesn’t work? It’s been so long I’ve forgotten how it went down last time.

I’m also interested to know how often you change your layout, and why?

Blog Admin in progress!

blogadmin

This weekend I’m doing some much needed blog admin. On my agenda is a proper ratings system, compiling a review policy & contact page and updating my TBR list. And in between all that I’ll be watching some Christmas films. Oh hello Lazy Weekend, how I love you!

In the mean time I thought I’d leave you with this…

One of my favourite WordPress functions is seeing what search terms have brought people to my blog. Some of them really crack me up. Here are some recent ones that made me do a LOL.

  • What a douche
  • Dorian Throne of Glass groin
  • Does the movie Catching Fire have curse words in it?
  • Were so hot friday (????)
  • Fiction book woman see’s her mum stabbing someone from treehouse daisy.
  • Hot Tucks

Share your good ones with me!! (Leave a comment 🙂 )
